Before taking this medication your physician should know if you have a history of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), other conditions that may weaken your immune system, bone marrow transplant, kidney transplant, kidney disease. The physician all needs to know if you have had any previous reactions to accylovir, other medications, foods, dye or preservative. It is also important for the prescribing physician to know if you are pregnant, or are trying to get pregnant or are breast feeding.
Side effects
As good as this medication works to attack the virus there are side effects as there are with any medication. The common side effects associated with Vakse. Topical application of acyclovir is clinically less effective than oral administration in the treatment of HSV infection.
Local reactions during intravenous administration can be developed if there extravasation of the applied drug solution. Although side effects are very rare, slow intravenous administration further reduces the risk. Nausea and headache may occur, and encephalopathy, although in rare cases.
Viruses that acyclovir acts, often cause infections in humans, and fortunately there is therapy for them, because there is limited number of drugs for many other viral diseases.
